Starting the journey without knowing how life would be in the end... the diversity of many nationalities together creates a bond of a big family.
Another EMTM story from generation 2013-15, Anna, our Russian friend shared her 2 year journey from Kolding travelled a bit down to Ljubljana and ended up in Girona last September. But wait...its not really the end because you will always find a family wherever you go...
Why EMTM? I tell you...
I always make random decisions, it’s kinda my thing. EMTM was one of them. I had half a year left of my Bachelor in wonderland called Finland and was searching for another adventure which will postpone working life as a true grown up for couple of years. I kept applying to programs in the UK but, if I may say so, something went wrong and I spontaneously ended up on EMTM webpage and applied couple of hours before the deadline. Surprisingly, the acceptance letter came two weeks later and it was the happiest day! I didn’t realize at that point what a hell of a ride it would be and how lucky I was.
The start was so exciting, we all met in tiny Kolding, all of us – 33 individuals with a strong opinion on everything, us - from 24 countries, we brought our cultures and mentality together which turned out into an acid combination. We experienced Danish wine, “met” the princess, went through 72h exam, survived the wind storm and falling trees, danced in Crazy Daisy and never won the beer pong tournament. We began with such an enthusiasm to be there and to meet each other that the small melancholic part of Christmas homesick in the end of the first semester had a sad corner. I couldn’t wait until Denmark would be over, I mean I come from the north and cold is not so depressing for me but there was something which didn’t get along with my happiness. But then Slovenia happened. It was the best semester as well as the hardest from the study point. I loved every single day there, even the day when I have failed environmental economics because I spent all the time watching Olympics instead of studying. Well, at least I informed all the class that Slovenia got 7 medals and it was the last question in the test. Every trip we had made us feel more in love with the country and its people. I will never stop watching million of photos from there and reminiscing all the memories of Mondays in Parliament, Thursdays in Companeros, student bonuses and food deliveries at 19.59 right to the campus, hiking those mountains, blueberry shots, bungee jump as a BDay present, the strongest hospitality of Slovene people wherever we went and of course responsustable tourism. It was my favourite semester indeed. Oh, and I forgot ITHAS!
The start in Girona was with realizing that we have only half a year left together on the graduation ceremony of the previous generation. We started to get closer together, to have more dinners all together and support each other. We went to France and Monaco and then had a goodbye trip to Catalan Pyrenees. After our last lecture ever we had a champagne showers right outside the uni with Jaume. I will never forget the last party we had, the last time we were all together before having 33 different adventures for the last semester. I feel like graduation did not make it clear at all that EMTM is done, that we have to separate from each other and start to build new environment. I had only one question standing on the stage with my diploma in hands “Is that really all done?” I want to thank all those wonderful people who contributed to that journey we had. Today is exactly three months since graduation and I am very happy to see most of you rocking your life! We follow different paths now but there always will be an EMTM family generation 2013-2015. Thank you for sharing all the experience you had, for your cultures, opinions you all brought, even sometimes it was annoying, for understanding, tolerance, millions of laughs and talks. I miss the time we had but I am so excited for the moment our paths will cross again. And here goes a special thank you to the best flat mate, friend, shoulder, Slovene and a cupcake queen Barbara, thank you for all the support patience and kindness, you are one of a kind. SEE YOU WHEN I SEE YOU! Your crazy Russian.
